Golden West Sweeps Fullerton

Outside hitter Jackie Cook had 28 kills to lead Golden West College, the top-ranked community college women’s volleyball team in the state, to a 15-9, 17-15, 15-9 sweep of Fullerton Friday in an Orange Empire Conference match at Fullerton.
Cook, a sophomore transfer from Nebraska, was helped by teammates Sabrina Dennis and Maureen Flannigan, who had 11 kills each.
Golden West (11-1, 5-0 in conference) has won 9 in a row, losing only to Grossmont, the state’s second-ranked team. Golden West has come back to beat Grossmont twice.
It was Golden West’s 23rd consecutive conference victory over the past three seasons.
Susan Guest had 11 kills for 10th-ranked Fullerton (10-2, 5-1). The loss stopped Fullerton’s 10-match winning streak.
