Channel Islands 27, Newbury Park 22--Fullback Jerry Williams rushed for 77 yards and scored twice at Newbury Park as Channel Islands (6-1, 3-0) remained one-half game behind Thousand Oaks in the league standings. Williams scored on runs of 19 and 14 yards.
Channel Islands tailback John Johnson rushed for a game-high 125 in 15 carries and caught an 11-yard pass for a touchdown. Channel Islands quarterback Vince Medina completed 6 of 12 for 64 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Newbury Park quarterback Wayne Cook completed 14 of 33 for 195 yards and 2 touchdowns. Tight end Danny Madsen caught 7 passes for 109 yards and 2 touchdowns and teammate Kelly Carmack rushed for 80 yards in 10 carries for Newbury Park (1-5-1, 1-2).
