The Hotel Metropole will soon rise again on Catalina Island, thanks to an Orange County construction company.
The original hotel was destroyed by fire 73 years ago, and 30 years ago Avalon Development Co. acquired the property.
Now Linkletter Construction Inc. of Costa Mesa has finished demolition on the Crescent Street property and is starting construction on the new four-story, 47-room hotel.
