Peter R. Fink has resigned as president and chief executive of R. P. Scherer, which has agreed to review a possible sale of all or part of the company, a recapitalization or a management-led buyout.
Fink will be succeeded by Ernst A. Schoepe, who has been executive vice president, chief operating officer and a director of the Troy, Mich., company, which makes gelatin capsules for medicines.
Fink, who remains a director, said: “This is a crucial period for the company. . . . In my judgment, removing myself from an operating and executive role will facilitate and enhance the board’s decision-making process.”
