Local News in Brief : Fullerton : Officers Win 8 Medals in Police Olympics

Six members of the Police Department are back on the job after competing in the International Law Enforcement Olympics in Australia and bringing home a total of eight gold medals.
Three of the medals were won by one officer--Lt. Ken Head, an 18-year veteran of the force who won first place in pistol-shooting competitions, English match small-bore rifle and four-position small-bore rifle.
Head also was part of the Fullerton police team that won the team pistol shooting gold medal. Other members were Lt. Bud Lathrop, Sgt. Neal Baldwin and Senior Officer Larry Bourland.
Sgt. Joe Klein won a gold medal in the discus event.
The competition was held Oct. 9 through 16 in Sidney and attracted 3,500 competitors.
