Time Off for Love in the Office

SINGAPORE — “Office romance” took on a new meaning last week when a Singapore union negotiated a clause in its employment agreement allowing time off for love.

Under the agreement, about 1,000 single members of the National University Hospital Employees Union will be able to claim five days’ paid leave to attend state-organized matchmaking activities.

And should true love blossom, they’ll be given another five days for the wedding.
