A 39-year-old Agoura man suspected of stabbing a Lompoc resident to death has been arrested by Ventura County sheriff’s deputies, authorities said Saturday.
Victor Castille Perea of Lobo Canyon was arrested at a Newbury Park motel Friday night by narcotics investigators and members of a Ventura County SWAT team, Sgt. Herb Roper said.
Deputies were investigating a tip that narcotics were being sold at the motel when they recognized Perea, Roper said.
Perea was taken into custody without incident and turned over to Lompoc detectives Saturday morning.
Lompoc police spokeswoman Janet Cooper said Perea is suspected of killing Harold D. Lyerla, 29, on Nov. 23 at Lyerla’s home in Lompoc.
She said the investigation into the motive for the stabbing is continuing. Perea is being held without bail at the Lompoc jail, she said.
