Coming soon (well, in 1991 or so) from Tri-Star Pictures: A film version of the smash musical “Les Miserables,” to be directed by Alan Parker and produced by Cameron Mackintosh. The attachment of Parker, whose film “Mississippi Burning” opened last Friday, to the “Les Miz” film project was what was required to get the film version rolling, according to Daily Variety. Parker, who also directed the controversial films “Angel Heart” and “Midnight Express,” will co-write the screenplay for the film with the show’s authors, Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schoenberg.
