Shareholders voted to change the name and quadruple the stock value of Continental Illinois Corp., marking a symbolic end to a troubled era at Chicago’s oldest banking company. Its principal subsidiary, Continental Illinois National Bank & Trust Co. of Chicago, is called Continental Bank N.A., and the holding company is Continental Bank Corp. Shedding the home state from the title underscores the reach of Continental’s strategy, Chairman Thomas Theobald told shareholders.
