John Tomac of Chatsworth and David Brinton of North Hollywood have been named to the U. S. national team by the United States Cycling Federation.
Tomac was named to the men’s road-race team along with 12 other long-distance riders. Brinton, who specializes in individual pursuit, was named to the 16-member men’s track team.
Both were selected on the strength of their performances in the 1988 National Prestige Classic, a series of USCF-sanctioned events. Brinton finished 12th in the nation in the senior men’s division with 95 points, Tomac was 22nd with 59 points.
As national team members, Tomac and Brinton are eligible for selection to Team USA, which competes in several international events.
Team USA participants will be named by the USCF in January.
