WASHINGTON — President Reagan’s farewell address to the nation is likely to be on Jan. 11 but might be on some other date in mid-January, his spokesman said Monday.
Spokesman Marlin Fitzwater had previously announced that Reagan would make such an address from the Oval Office in the closing days of his Administration.
When asked about a report that it had been scheduled for Jan. 11, he replied: “I wouldn’t guide you away from that date, but we are not ready to announce it yet, just in case we want to make a change at the last minute.”
