An East San Diego man who was stabbed a week ago during an apparent robbery died Sunday morning at Mercy Hospital, police said.
Joseph McGuffie, 84, died at 11:15 a.m. as a result of multiple stab wounds, a coroner’s spokesman said.
McGuffie was stabbed on the afternoon of Dec. 18 near his home in the 8200 block of San Vicente Street, said police Sgt. Bill Edwards. A suspect, Haroon Shakoor, also known as Harold Derouen, was arrested 2 1/2 hours later less than a mile from the scene of the stabbing, Edwards said. Haroon, 43, was booked into County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder and robbery.
