FLORENCE, Italy — Carlo Scorza, last secretary of Italy’s wartime governing Fascist Party, has died at 91, family members said Monday.
They said he died Friday but it was decided not to issue an announcement until after his funeral.
Dictator Benito Mussolini appointed Scorza party secretary in April, 1943. The Fascist government fell three months later, and Mussolini was arrested and executed.
After World War II, Scorza fled to Argentina, returning to Italy in 1955.
