HONG KONG — Customs officials in the southern city of Canton have foiled an attempt to smuggle a priceless collection of nearly 1,000 relics out of China, it was reported Tuesday.
The pieces were discovered in the last month concealed in flower vases, jewelry boxes and other items, the newspapers Wen Wei Po and Ta Kung Pao reported.
Two Hong Kong residents and two Taiwanese businessmen bought the relics on the black market, the reports said.
