NHL Roundup : Iafrate’s 40-Foot Shot Gives Maple Leafs Tie at Chicago

Al Iafrate scored a power-play goal with 6:23 remaining in regulation time to give the Toronto Maple Leafs a 3-3 tie with the Blackhawks Sunday night at Chicago.
Toronto, which trailed 3-1 after two periods, got to within one goal at 9:45 of the third period when ex-Blackhawk Ed Olczyk banged his own rebound past replacement goaltender Ed Belfour for his 21st goal of the season.
Belfour replaced Darren Pang 5:19 into the third period after Pang was injured during a goal-mouth scramble.
Iafrate tied the game when he beat Belfour with a 40-foot slap shot at 13:37 for his sixth goal of the season.
Chicago took a 2-0 lead on first-period goals by Wayne Presley and Dave Manson. Presley, who had not scored since Dec. 14, beat Toronto goaltender Ken Wregget to his glove side with a 25-foot slap shot from the left circle at 8:07, and Manson beat Wregget to the glove side with a 30-footer at 9:34 during a power play.
Montreal 4, Vancouver 0--Patrick Roy stopped 39 shots for his third shutout of the season as the Montreal Canadiens extended their winning streak to 8 games with a win over the Canucks in Vancouver.
Montreal, which has won 5 in a row on the road, has lost only once in its last 14 games. The Canadiens lead second-place Boston by 21 points in the Adams Division.
