WOENSDRECHT, Netherlands — Two peace activists attacked two Dutch air force jets with a sledgehammer and an ax, damaging the planes, a Defense Ministry spokesman confirmed Monday.
The activists, one a former army chaplain, remained in military police custody on this southern Dutch air force base where the two NF-5 fighter-bombers were waiting to be flown to Turkey, the planes’ new owner. The suspects were not identified.
