U.S. oil companies plan to increase exploration spending in 1989 and many are particularly focusing on more investment in natural gas drilling, according to an industry survey by Salomon Bros. The survey also found that although major U.S. oil companies are planning a general increase in exploration and production spending, less money will go toward drilling in the United States.
