Eleven Communist Party officials in the Yugoslav province of Kosovo resigned during a party session, saying they quit as a sign of personal responsibility for the slow and inefficient way problems were solved, the Tanjug news agency reported. The party session in the province’s capital of Pristina was held to discuss constitutional changes in the republic of Serbia, which includes the autonomous provinces of Kosovo and Vojvodina. The changes would give Serbia direct control over the two provinces, which it lost under the 1974 constitution.
