WEST BERLIN — Memorials to Jewish and other victims of the Nazis in West Berlin were desecrated during the night, apparently by neo-Nazis, a police spokesman said Saturday.
He said the heads of two pigs were hung on a memorial at the former Nazi execution site at Ploetzensee and two more on a memorial to Jews deported from Berlin.
A pig’s head was left on a memorial for Rosa Luxembourg, the Jewish co-founder of the German Communist Party who was murdered by extremists in 1919. A swastika was also smeared on her memorial.
