Brent Lofton, an All-City Section forward at El Camino Real High, will miss at least one game this week after collapsing from dehydration in the bathroom of his mother’s Los Angeles home Sunday morning, Lofton said Monday.
Lofton, a 6-5 senior, passed out at 12:15 a.m. Sunday and was taken by his mother, Bertha, to Daniel Freeman Hospital in Inglewood. He was diagnosed as suffering from dehydration and vitamin deficiency and will undergo more tests today.
Lofton said he will not return to school until Thursday and will miss Wednesday’s game against Granada Hills and may also sit out a game Friday against Cleveland.
Lofton, who has accepted a scholarship to attend Utah State, became the first junior in El Camino Real history to be selected All-City after averaging 21.6 points and 11.7 rebounds last season.
