General Cinema Corp.’s 1988 net income climbed 26% from the previous year to $88 million. Revenue rose to $2.3 billion, including $1.2 billion from Neiman Marcus Group, which was consolidated with General Cinema for the first time. The Chestnut Hill, Mass., firm is a major independent bottler of Pepsi-Cola, Dr Pepper and 7-Up products in the United States and operates one of the nation’s largest theater circuits. Officials attributed the results in part to a gain of $33.3 million from the sale of RJR Nabisco securities and a 4% revenue gain at its theaters due to higher average ticket prices and increased concession activity.
