A number of baseball players eligible for salary arbitration reached contract terms with their teams.
Among them were Philadelphia Phillies infielder-outfielder Juan Samuel, who agreed to a 2-year, $2.8-million contract; Baltimore Orioles outfielder Phil Bradley, 2 years, $2.3 million; San Diego Padres pitcher Dennis Rasmussen, 2 years, $1.3 million; Detroit Tigers pitcher Doyle Alexander, 1 year at $1.1 million; San Francisco Giants shortstop Jose Uribe, 1 year at $887,500; and St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Terry Pendleton, 1 year at $687,500.
Meanwhile, New York Mets pitcher Sid Fernandez and Minnesota Twins pitcher Keith Atherton filed for arbitration. A total of 144 players remain eligible to file before Monday’s deadline.
