Appearances

And they say women have come a long way? Once again, The Times has contributed to one of the many causes that keep women back. I am talking about the sentence which appeared in “Governor: The Race Is On” (Part I, Jan. 6). The sentence in reference to Dianne Feinstein running for the governor’s office read, “She is attractive. . . .” So what? Are the other seven candidates--who all happen to be men--attractive? The article doesn’t say, it only mentions Feinstein’s appearance. Either discuss everyone’s appearance or no one’s, but let’s stop mentioning only the appearance of women, OK?
