Poway 38, Fallbrook 37--Poway (12-7, 4-1) led by just two points at halftime but increased the lead to 10 going into the fourth quarter. Fallbrook (11-5, 2-2) then hit three 3-pointers in the last 4 minutes to come within a point before Fallbrook’s Terri Pearson missed an 18-footer with 2 seconds remaining. Dawn Gigstad led Poway with 12 points, and Julie Schwan scored 10.
Vista 66, Orange Glen 26--Orange Glen (0-5) fouled out five players and committed 39 fouls. Vista remained undefeated in the league (5-0).
Avocado League
Oceanside 58, San Pasqual 34--Mildred Conston scored 20 points and Kecha Fowlkes had 18 for host Oceanside (12-5, 5-0). Nikki Gannon led San Pasqual (6-9, 2-3) with 11.
El Camino 40, Escondido 27--Shannon Downey and Katie Shankle-Chriss each scored 13 points for El Camino (3-9, 2-3). Escondido is 2-11 and 0-5.
San Marcos 59, Carlsbad 32--Susie O’Brien scored a game-high 39 points for San Marcos (10-5, 5-0).
Ramona 42, Rancho Buena Vista 25--Kris Miller scored 22 points for Ramona (10-2, 4-1).
Grossmont 3-A League
Mt. Miguel 43, Granite Hills 37--Mt. Miguel (3-12, 1-3) took a 26-14 halftime lead. Jolinda Bone scored 21 points, and Tonya Chamberlin added 12 for the Matadors. Granite Hills is 6-9 and 1-3.
Grossmont 2-A League
Valhalla 46, Grossmont 38--Danielle Muncrief had 14 points and 15 rebounds for Valhalla (4-11, 1-2). Christina Adams scored 27 points for Grossmont (5-10, 0-3).
Metro Conference
Montgomery 39, Coronado 15--Roxanne Shoaf scored 18 points and 9 rebounds and Monica Vargas added 10 points for Montgomery. Montgomery (5-9, 2-4) led, 17-9, at halftime.
Southwest 68, Mar Vista 34--Mesega Johnson scored 31 points and freshman Tameeka Hall had 20 for host Southwest (11-5, 6-1). Mar Vista is 6-9 and 3-4.
Chula Vista 42, Hilltop 32--Marcey Wolf scored 19 points and Stefanie Wolf added 11 for Chula Vista (8-9, 5-2). Gloria Silva had 13 for Hilltop (3-10, 1-6).
Bonita Vista 54, Marian 26--Torril Purvis scored 24 points for Bonita Vista (14-4, 7-0). Marian is 2-12 and 0-7.
Castle Park 55, Sweetwater 35--Lana Iuli scored 23 points and Christina Murguia 16 for visiting Castle Park (13-5, 6-1). Nancy Magana had 18 points for Sweetwater (3-9, 2-5).
Nonleague
El Cajon Valley 54, Monte Vista 50--Heidi Holm scored 19 points and Debbie Duhaney scored 15 for El Cajon Valley (8-7).
Boys’ basketball
Grossmont 2-A League
Valhalla 89, Grossmont 61--Tony Clark scored 23 points and grabbed 18 rebounds for host Valhalla (12-5, 3-0). Rafid Kiti added 21 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, Tony Lee had 17 points and Jon Scurlock 13 for Valhalla. Grossmont is 5-10 and 1-2.
Nonleague
Monte Vista 90, El Cajon 71--Jeff Polinsky scored 35 points and Bren Jacobson added 15 for Monte Vista (9-4). Jacobson had 13 rebounds. El Cajon (2-11) trailed by just nine points at halftime but was outscored, 25-10, in the third quarter.
Helix 54, Santana 48--Helix held onto a first-half lead despite being outscored by Santana in the second half. Andy Merideth scored 16 points and John Pressler 15 for Helix (10-5). Matt Panebianco scored 20 points for Santana (10-5).
