THE PREPS : Century League Basketball : Foothill Beats Santa Ana Valley With Free Throws

Santa Ana Valley High School missed the front end of six 1-and-1 free-throw opportunities in the second half and Foothill High School won a Century League boys’ basketball game, 65-60, Friday at Santa Ana Valley.
Santa Ana Valley (10-8 overall, 2-3 in league play) hit only 4 of 13 free throws in the game. Foothill (11-9, 3-2) made 14 of 20.
Santa Ana Valley led, 37-33, at the half, but Foothill took a 57-49 lead after three quarters. Unable to hit its free throws, Santa Ana Valley could not come back.
Mark Wilkinson scored 26 points and Todd Henrotin 19 for Foothill. Henrotin was 8 for 11 from the line and hit 6 of 9 free throws in the second half.
Chuck Steen led Santa Ana Valley with 23 points and Bryan Singleton added 14.
El Modena 70, Villa Park 56--Robbie Pietsch had 16 points and 17 rebounds to lead El Modena (15-5, 4-1) at Villa Park. El Modena led, 18-14, after a quarter, then outscored the Spartans, 22-10, to take a 40-24 halftime lead. Ramsey Rycraw scored 15 points for the Vanguards. Chris Johnson scored 27 points for Villa Park (9-10, 1-4).
Santa Ana 60, Canyon 47--Mike Zamora scored 21 points to lead Santa Ana (16-5, 4-1) at Canyon. Chauncey Woolridge scored 15 points and Oscar Wilson 14 for the Saints. Kevin Wilborn scored 16 points and Bryan Van Noy 12 for Canyon (11-9, 1-4).
