Los Angeles police found $48 million worth of cocaine and heroin and seized numerous weapons, including a machine gun and four grenade launchers, during a raid on nine homes in Diamond Bar, Bell Gardens, Montebello, El Monte and Glendale, Police Chief Daryl F. Gates said Thursday.
Detectives arrested six Mexican nationals after a two-week investigation that culminated Wednesday. The six men, suspected of running a cocaine and heroin trafficking operation, were booked on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance for sale and held in lieu of $5-million bail each.
Officers also found $14,580 in cash, two automatic rifles, five pistols and two silencers, Gates said.
