A 21-year-old Compton man was killed and three others were wounded early today by a gunman who fired an AK-47 assault rifle at them on the Artesia Freeway in Long Beach, police said. The victims, in two cars, had stopped on the shoulder to change a flat tire when a third car pulled over. A man got out of the car and fired about 30 rounds with the rifle, wounding a young man and two young women, all from Compton, police said.
Authorities, characterizing the shooting as possibly gang-related, said the victims were returning from a Cerritos skating rink, where they had been involved in a dispute.
