Media magnate Rupert Murdoch launched his new Sky Television network, Western Europe’s first major direct-to-homes satellite television service. Under the umbrella of Australian-born Murdoch’s London-based News International PLC, Sky has invested an initial $260 million in programming for four channels and for two pay ones, which are due to be launched in the fall.
