An unidentified woman was fatally injured when she was struck by a hit-and-run driver Thursday, police said.
Police Sgt. Jeff Roop said a van traveling north on Gilbert Street about 11 a.m. turned right onto Orangethorpe Avenue and hit the woman in the crosswalk.
The van’s driver stopped momentarily then fled, Roop said. The woman was taken by ambulance to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where she was pronounced dead Thursday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.
