Canyon’s Baltau Signs With Texas El Paso

Rod Baltau, the Canyon High quarterback who led his team to the Southern Section Division II championship game in 1988, signed a national letter of intent Thursday with Texas El Paso.
Baltau flew to the west Texas city of El Paso on Wednesday for a campus visit and signed the letter there a day later, according to Canyon Coach Harry Welch.
Baltau (6-foot-2, 180 pounds) completed 142 of 247 passes (57.5%) for 2,099 yards and 20 touchdowns for the Cowboys (11-3).
