Re Elizabeth Venant’s “On-the-Wall Latino Art at LACMA,” Feb. 4: Comments by Almaraz, Romero and De Montes about elitist museums, appeasement of the peasants and exclusion of minorities may be true to some degree. But I suspect they may be grounded in bitterness, and it is time to look ahead.
Come on, folks, come off the defensive stance. Minority or not, if you make good art, if you allow your art to evolve, if your art makes a statement, if you know how to market yourselves, collectors and museums, East and West alike, cannot but take notice.
