Emery Air Freight Corp. posted a $51.1-million loss for 1988, a widening of its $47.7-million loss in 1987. For the fourth quarter, Emery’s loss totaled $15.7 million, an improvement over the $18.4-million loss a year earlier. Chairman and Chief Executive William F. Souders cited costs associated with the integration of Emery’s operations with those of Purolator Courier Corp., which it acquired in April, 1977.
