Man, 54, Found Dead in Doorway

San Diego Police homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 54-year-old man whose body was found downtown Monday.
The body of Vernon McCullough of Texas was found about 10:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of Kettner Boulevard by a woman who had stopped to give money to what she thought was a sleeping homeless person wrapped in a blanket in a doorway, police said.
The San Diego County coroner’s office plans to conduct an autopsy today to determine the cause of death, a coroner’s spokesman said.
