The World : Prague Offers Dialogue

Czechoslovak Premier Ladislav Adamec offered to open a qualified dialogue with government critics in a move to ease growing pressure over the political trials of dissidents due to open in Prague today. “We sincerely want to have dialogue with all those who want to creatively help socialism,” the Communist Party newspaper Rude Pravo quoted Adamec as saying. Noted playwright Vaclav Havel and eight others are accused of incitement and hooliganism stemming from demonstrations last month marking the 20th anniversary of the death of a student who killed himself in protest over the 1968 Soviet-led invasion of Czechoslovakia.
