Gomez Faces Hernandez in Irvine Main Event

Abe Gomez will step in to fight Luis Hernandez tonight in the main event of the monthly boxing card at the Irvine Marriott.
Gomez, a featherweight from San Fernando, will replace state featherweight champion Genaro Hernandez, who injured his right hand in a workout earlier this week.
Gomez is 12-2 and Hernandez 12-7.
The semi-main event features John Armijo of Huntington Beach against Doc Holiday of Hawaiian Gardens in a four-round bout.
The first of six scheduled fights starts at 7 p.m. More than 400 tickets are left and will go on sale at 10 a.m. at the hotel.
