LOCAL : Rookie Officer Shot Pursuing Truck

A rookie Los Angeles police officer pursuing a pickup truck that had run a red light in West Los Angeles was wounded when someone in the truck’s bed opened fire on the patrol car with an automatic assault rifle, authorities said today.
Officer Carlton Brown was wounded early this morning when one of the occupants of the truck shot out the patrol car’s windshield. Police said up to 15 rounds were fired, five of which hit the patrol car.
Brown, 31, suffered a scalp wound. He was in stable condition at UCLA Medical Center today.
