Republicans and Duke’s Election
Being from New Orleans, I read with disgust that Louisianians elected a Klan chief to the state legislature. If Duke left the Klan in 1980 why does he still use the New Orleans’ Klan office as his home phone? And why does he still publish a newspaper for the National Assn. for the Advancement of White People?
I’m not sure if the people of Metairie voted for Duke in support of his KKK activities (after all Metairie is made up of whites who left New Orleans neighborhoods when blacks moved in), or if they were just following the Louisiana tradition of electing outrageous, flamboyant character to public office.
Either way, I’m glad I don’t live there anymore!
