With the major film studios breaking up into small production companies, many of the new shops are looking for offices away from the studio lots and corporate office towers. The result has been a run on attractive, easily accessible low-rise office buildings on the far Westside and in Santa Monica.
A development consortium, including a few film producers, are recycling the architecturally anonymous Systems Development building at 3000 W. Olympic Blvd., Santa Monica, into a distinctive garden office complex, to be called the Lantana Center.
This interesting experiment in architectural retrofitting and commercial development is being done by architect Arthur Pereira and the landscape architecture firm of Carter, Romanek.
