Low-income, elderly, disabled and non-English-speaking individuals can get free assistance filling out federal and state tax returns through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service and the state Franchise Tax Board.
The income tax help is available at more than 1,500 locations throughout the state.
