The creation of the atomic bomb changed the world forever.
“Day One,” a three-hour AT&T; presentation airing 8-11 p.m. Sunday on CBS (Channels 2 and 8), charts the development of that devastating weapon.
Written and produced by David W. Rintels (“Gideon’s Trumpet,” “Sakharov”), the drama tells of the Manhattan Project, which was devised to defeat the Germans in the race to create the ultimate weapon and thereby win World War II.
Brian Dennehy and Michael Tucker star as Gen. Leslie R. Groves, who spearheaded the effort with J. Robert Oppenheimer, and physicist Leo Szilard, respectively. Richard Dysart, right, plays President Harry S. Truman.
