Mookie Blaylock Is Arrested for Drunkenness

Guard Mookie Blaylock of the fourth-ranked Oklahoma basketball team was arrested early Sunday and charged with public drunkenness following a report of an argument at a convenience store in Norman, Okla., police said.
Blaylock, 21, was arrested shortly after 4 a.m. and booked into the Cleveland County jail on a municipal public drunkenness complaint, police Sgt. Olan Nystrom said.
He was released on bond and is expected to appear next week in municipal court, Nystrom said. A convenience store employee called police to the store because Blaylock was arguing with a female companion, Nystrom said.
Blaylock’s arrest came just hours after the senior scored 22 points in the Sooners’ 103-76 victory over Nebraska in his final home game.
Although Oklahoma’s football program has been plagued by scandal with the arrests of five players on criminal charges, Blaylock’s arrest is the first recent incident involving a basketball player.
