Assemblyman Trice Harvey (R-Bakersfield) was fined $5,000 by the Fair Political Practices Commisssion for failing to file timely reports of last-minute contributions to his 1986 campaign. The commission said Harvey, a former Kern County supervisor who was first elected in 1986, received $68,084 in last-minute funds and services that were either reported a few days after the deadline, or not reported at all. His staff acknowledged that some reports were filed late and said his failure to report other late contributions was an “oversight.” Harvey could have been fined a maximum of $6,000 on the three violations.
