IN BRIEF : Sentence Deferred for OU Player

NORMAN, Okla. — Oklahoma starting guard Mookie Blaylock pleaded no contest today to an amended charge of disturbing the peace and was placed on a six-month deferred sentence by a municipal court judge.
Blaylock had been arrested early Sunday on a complaint of public intoxication after police answered a call from a convenience store clerk about an argument. Police said Blaylock and a female companion were arrested after an argument between the two rekindled outside the store.
University officials are expected to make an announcement on Blaylock’s playing status later today.
The judge imposed the deferred sentence and ordered Blaylock to pay a $50 administrative fee and $19 in court costs.
