Mechanical problems allowed Jeff Stanton of Sherwood, Mich., to pass Ron Lechien of El Cajon two laps from the finish and win the Daytona Supercross in the AMA Supercross Series at Daytona Beach, Fla.
Jeff Ward of Mission Viejo was 12.63 seconds behind. Lechien finished fifth after leading for 12 laps.
Damon Bradshaw of Charlotte, N.C., won his third consecutive 125cc race, with Mike Kiedrowski of Canyon Country second.
