A man who had been drinking most of the night was arrested Sunday on suspicion of murder for allegedly running down his wife with a car outside their home in Paramount, authorities said. Lucia Cabanas, 43, died at St. Mary Medical Center shortly after noon, Sheriff’s Deputy Bill Wehner said.
She and her husband, Rafael Cabanas, 45, apparently had been arguing inside their home in the 7300 block of Cortland Avenue about 7 a.m. when he suddenly stormed out of the house and climbed into his car. His wife tried to stop him from leaving by standing in front of the car, but was knocked down and dragged about 30 feet, Wehner said.
