Geronimo Service Co. in Camarillo said it has been awarded a contract to operate and maintain housing quarters for 11,000 Navy personnel and their families on the Hawaiian island of Oahu.
Geronimo said the award would amount to $24.7 million for the period that ends Sept. 30 and could total $190 million if the Defense Department exercises its option to retain Geronimo for the next four years.
The contract involves updating the inside and outside of the facilities. It includes carpentry, plumbing, roofing, masonry and painting, Geronimo said. The privately held company also plans to hire an additional 150 to 200 people in Hawaii.
