Kill Arafat and Destroy PLO, Sharon Urges

JERUSALEM — Israel’s hawkish industry minister and former defense chief, Ariel Sharon, said Thursday that Yasser Arafat should be killed and the Israeli army should destroy his Palestine Liberation Organization.
Sharon, who was the architect of Israel’s disastrous 1982 invasion of Lebanon, demanded a worldwide Jewish effort to end the dialogue between the United States and the Palestinians.
“Our goal must be their (the PLO’s) destruction,” the outspoken Sharon said in an interview on Israel Radio. “We should have killed Arafat long ago.”
