An 18-year-old woman is dead and a 19-year-old man faces a possible manslaughter charge as a result of a head-on collision in Clairemont, police said.
Angela Sue Reed, who was a passenger in a car driven by Michael Colletti, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision Thursday in the 3500 block of Mount Abbey Avenue, police spokesman Dave Cohen said. Colletti was in fair condition at Sharp Memorial Hospital.
Colletti was traveling north on a curved stretch of Mt. Abbey Avenue about 4:10 p.m. at high speed when his car crossed into traffic, hitting an oncoming motor home, Cohen said.
The two passengers in the motor home, who complained of minor pains, were taken to Kaiser Permanente Hospital, he said.
Neither Reed nor Colletti was wearing a seat belt, Cohen said.
Cohen said police will recommend to the district attorney’s office that Colletti, a San Diego resident, be charged with misdemeanor manslaughter.
