SOUTHLAND : Death Car Drunk Driver Convicted
- Share via
A Huntington Park man was convicted today on a reduced charge of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated for running down a woman with his car as a passenger videotaped the incident.
The Orange County district attorney’s office had asked jurors to convict Danny Ornelas, 19, of second-degree murder in the woman’s death last September, but the panel instead returned the lesser verdict. Ornelas, who had been free on bail during his trial, was ordered taken into custody without bail after the conviction. He is scheduled to be sentenced May 2 and could be sent to state prison for up to 10 years.
