LOCAL : 3.8 Quake Wakes Up Southland

A moderate offshore earthquake awakened some Southern Californians from Santa Barbara to Long Beach and inland before dawn today, but there were no reports of damage or injury.
Bob Finn, a spokesman for the Caltech Seismology Laboratory in Pasadena, said the quake, which struck at 4:05 a.m., measured 3.8 on the Richter scale and was centered about 14 miles south-southeast of Oxnard.
